Why Moving to Chelsea London Makes Sense

Chelsea is an affluent area in the west of London. It is a great place for people to live if they work in Central or Greater London.

Moving to Chelsea London can be an intimidating proposition, however, because of the price of property in London. Before you move, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the area.

Low Crime

One of the most appealing things about moving to Chelsea London is that it is a very low crime area. In fact, the area does not even rank on the London Metropolitan Police Crime Figures list for things like mobile phone theft, and other crimes (such as burglary) have fallen significantly in recent years. This is an affluent area, and one that is very safe.

Great Transport Links

Chelsea is very well served in terms of both public transport and roads. London’s bus network is one of the best in the country, and thanks to the Oyster card and contactless payments you can travel on buses without using cash. The London Underground and rail service is frequent, affordable and comprehensive, and there are several airports within easy driving distance.

Good Education

Because Chelsea is an affluent area, there is no shortage of high-performing fee-paying schools. However, you do not have to be able to afford to send your children to such a school if you decide to move to Chelsea. There are a number of state-funded schools in the area too, and they consistently do well in league tables.

Entertainment

Chelsea is centrally located, making it a great place for people who like culture and enjoy a good night out. The Royal Albert Hall is nearby, as is the Natural History Museum. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity too, offering everything from quality but affordable table service to the finest of dining.

Rich and Varied Culture

As of 2011, the population of Chelsea was just under 160,000, and relatively evenly split between men and women. Chelsea is an area that attracts professionals, and the average age of people living in the area is 38.
Chelsea is quite multicultural – fewer than half of the area’s residents were born in England. While the same can be said of most parts of London, Chelsea’s varied population is particularly interesting because it skews towards young professionals who have come to London for their careers.

Chelsea is a great place for families, and for single people too. Whether you are looking for a place that is well-connected and that will give your children a good start in life, or you are looking for somewhere to live, work, and hopefully meet your future spouse, Chelsea is a great choice. The Royal Borough is full of things to see and do, and it is a good central point for exploring the rest of London. You would be hard pushed to find anywhere else that is as convenient and as flexible other than the actual centre of the city.

Living in Chelsea London

Chelsea is an affluent area in central London, bounded to the south by the River Thames. Its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. The district is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The area is home to several open spaces including Albert Bridge Gardens, Battersea Bridge Gardens, Chelsea Embankment Gardens, Royal Hospital Chelsea: the grounds of which are used by the annual Chelsea Flower Show and Chelsea Physic Garden and 12 hotels including the Cadogan Hotel. The most desirable part of Chelsea is around Sloane Square and Knightsbridge tube. Around here, Chelsea meets Knightsbridge. This property market attracts considerable (international) attention, and is a very complex market as it consists mainly of short leases under Earl Cadogan as freeholder. Much of Chelsea is now viewed as a “Global Ultra Prime Residential Area“.
Since 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the “glitzy” lives of young people living there. Moreover, Chelsea is home to one of the largest communities of Americans living outside the US, with 6.53% of Chelsea residents being born in the US.
Sloane Street] is quickly catching up with Bond Street as one of London’s premier shopping destinations, housing a variety of high-end fashion or jewellery boutiques such as Cartier, Tiffany & Co, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Gucci, Harrods, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo and many more….
Chelsea Football Club is located at Stamford Bridge on the border of Chelsea and neighbouring Fulham. As a result of Chelsea’s expensive location and wealthy residents, Chelsea F.C. has the wealthiest supporters in England. The club is owned by Russian billionaire and Chelsea-resident, Roman Abramovich. Its manager is José Mourinho, who also lives in Chelsea.
